Privacy policy

Gefeliciteerd! is made by Toemaar, the controller for the processing described here. For questions about privacy, e-mail privacy@toemaar.nl.

• No account, no sign-up.
• No analytics, no tracking and no advertising, and no third-party SDKs.
• No server of ours ever receives your personal data.
• Your data is stored on your devices and – if iCloud is on – in your own private iCloud database.

The app stores what you add: names, birthdays, anniversary and other dates, notes, photos, groups, message templates and your settings.

This data is stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on, it syncs between your devices through your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). Only you can access it; we can't see or read it. Apple stores this data under its own privacy policy.

Access to Contacts is optional. If you allow it, Gefeliciteerd! uses it only to read the names, birthdays, photos and anniversary dates of your contacts, to link people in the app to their contact, and – only as you choose in the app's settings – to update the birthday or photo on a contact card.

This happens entirely on your device. If you give limited access, the app only sees the contacts you selected.

Calendar sync is optional and set per device. When it's on, the app only creates, updates and removes events in its own separate “Gefeliciteerd” calendar. It doesn't use your other calendars or appointments.

Reminders are local notifications scheduled by the app on each device. No push server is involved.

When you send wishes, Gefeliciteerd! opens the app you choose – Messages, WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal or your e-mail app – with the text filled in. You send the message yourself through that app, under that service's terms and privacy policy. Gefeliciteerd! doesn't send messages itself and doesn't store them on a server.

Widgets, the Apple Watch app and its complications, Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight use the data on your own devices. When you talk to Siri, Apple processes your request under Apple's privacy policy.

The supporter subscription and tips are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details and no information about who you are – only anonymous sales reports from Apple. The app checks your purchases on the device.

If you e-mail us (for example at support@toemaar.nl), we use your e-mail address, your message and any details you include – such as your app version and device – only to answer you. We delete the e-mail when it's no longer needed for that.

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from third parties – fonts and images are served from this site itself.

Like any web server, the hosting reverse proxy keeps standard access logs (IP address, date and time, requested page, browser type) to keep the site secure and working. These logs are kept for at most 14 days and then deleted. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working website.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Because the app's data lives on your devices and in your own iCloud, you control most of it directly. For anything else, e-mail privacy@toemaar.nl.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or the authority in your own country.

• Delete individual people in the app.
• Delete the app to remove all data stored on that device.
• Remove the iCloud copy via Settings › Apple Account › iCloud › Manage storage › Gefeliciteerd.
• If you used calendar sync, remove the “Gefeliciteerd” calendar in the app or in the Calendar app.
• To have support e-mails deleted, write to privacy@toemaar.nl.

Gefeliciteerd! doesn't collect personal data from anyone, children included. Birthdays of children you add stay on your devices and in your own iCloud, like all other data.

If the app or this website starts handling data differently, we'll update this policy and the date below. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
